The law demanded the death of the sinner. Therefore Jesus’ death in our place was necessary that justice might be fully maintained.

If the law could have been changed, Jesus need not have died. His death proved the law unchangeable.

Hence the law “stands in all its dignity” unchanged in the least and its authority maintained.
